Come in, all are welcome!

Guest Centre | Canadian Mental Health Association, Calgary

Conceptual design for a welcoming space where CMHA clients—whether first-time visitors or program participants—feel invited to connect and belong.

The design creates a warm, coffeeshop-like atmosphere that encourages socializing while remaining flexible for changing needs. Different seating types support different interactions: comfortable armchairs for small conversations, high round tables for spontaneous gathering, a large island where many can gather on both sides, and a living room setup for group discussions. All furniture on wheels, all tables nesting—the space adapts.

Sound masking allows private conversations alongside group activities while reducing train noise. Mature indoor trees by the windows bring nature in, adding softness, improving acoustics, and creating calm.
