Living in Colour, Talk and Workshop
Design Victoria 2026
Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Luxe Home Interiors, Victoria, BC
Living in Colour gathered around 40 attendees for the talk, with the workshop that followed fully booked. The room held a wonderful mix of colour curious, colour enthusiasts, and designers, each bringing their own questions and curiosity.
The talk drew on the latest scientific research on how colour impacts people and shapes the way a room feels and functions, separating myth from science. It also covered the foundations of colour: hue, lightness, and saturation, the relationships between colours, simple formulas for building a palette, and a practical approach to choosing paint. Throughout, real interiors were analyzed through these formulas to show why some palettes succeed and others fall short.
It was a true pleasure to share this knowledge with such an engaged audience. The level of attention and the genuine desire to understand were palpable. Many people stayed afterward to ask more questions, share stories, and continue the conversation, and these exchanges were among the most rewarding moments of the day.
The workshop was its own kind of joy. Participants arrived with a big question mark, a blank page, and a real room in their home in mind, and left with a tangible plan: a colour palette, a clear direction, and the formulas to build on it with confidence.
Deep thanks to Elaine and the team at Luxe Home Interiors for the warm welcome and beautiful space, to Kristin Moore for her wonderful volunteer support throughout the day, to Dahlia Shults for the beautiful event photography, and to Carla, Sarah, and the team at Design Victoria for creating a festival where these conversations can happen.
