Talk: Living in Colour

Colour has the power to transform a room, changing how people feel, move, and live. This talk explores the psychology of colour, drawing from environmental psychology research, historical knowledge, and lived experience.

What attendees will learn:

  • The psychology of colour: separating myth from evidence

  • How colour impacts mood, function, and the felt sense of a space

  • The formula for building a balanced colour palette for different moods and functions

  • Layering colour for depth and harmony

  • Paint colours: why mistakes happen and how to avoid them

  • How light, materials, and pattern interact with colour

  • A clear framework for thinking about colour in interiors

  • The formula for colour balance

  • Understanding where scientific research stands on colour psychology

  • Understanding how paint colour works and confidence in their choices

Workshop: Build Your Living Colours

80 min - Free - Registration Required, Design Victoria

Saturday May 2nd, 2026 | 2:15 pm - 3:35 pm | Luxe Home Interior, Victoria BC

Following the talk, this hands-on workshop gives attendees the opportunity to put their learning into practice. Limited to 10 participants, the session offers focused guidance and individual support.

What attendees will do:

  • Develop two colour palettes for a room, suited to its mood and function

  • Choose one direction to develop further

  • Build a colour board using sample materials: flooring, fabric, wood, tile, accessories, and art

What to bring:

  • A room in mind with a simple sketch of the floor plan (hand-drawn is perfect)

  • Or use a project provided during the session

  • Notebook and pen

What attendees will leave with:

  • A clear colour direction for one room

  • Guidance on describing materials and selections (photos encouraged)

  • Confidence to apply the process at home

  • Nora Bouz guides participants through the process, helping them navigate choices and refine their selections.

Requirement: Attendees must attend the preceding talk, "Living in Colour."
