Style, Unbound.

We live in a remarkable time for design. Centuries of styles, from cultures across the world, are available to us — not as museum pieces, but as living vocabulary. And we have the tools now to blend them, to create spaces that hold both history and innovation, tradition and personal truth.

This is the gift of our moment: we don't have to choose a single aesthetic and stay loyal to it. We can honour what came before while making something new — something that reflects who we actually are.

During my time as an interior design student, I immersed myself in the diverse world of interior and architectural design styles, exploring their unique histories and influences. Each style, from the ornate details of Baroque to the minimalist aesthetics of modernism, offered a glimpse into the cultural narratives and societal values of its time. I delved into various areas, studying everything from the principles of spatial arrangement to colour palettes, all of which enriched my understanding of how different styles can transform a space.

The significant influence of media on interior design has contributed to a trend in which ready-made and simplified designs are becoming increasingly popular. While this approach offers convenience, it can sometimes lead to a loss of personalization, emphasizing a conventional aesthetic over a unique character. Consequently, many interiors may miss out on the opportunity to showcase the rich narratives and diverse historical styles that may reflect individual identities and cultural backgrounds.

I am fortunate to work with clients who challenge the status quo to pursue genuine self-expression. They are passionate about discovering and embracing their unique design styles, often opting for arrangements, diverse colour palettes, and innovative forms that defy convention. Their adventurous spirit encourages me to explore creative possibilities together, resulting in truly distinctive and personalized designs.

I recently embarked on a captivating residential project that invites complexity and celebrates the unique narratives that arise from a genuine interplay of styles. My aim, as always, is to let the true essence of my clients radiate throughout the design.

My client’s rich and colourful history of travel has exposed them to a myriad of cultures, enlightening them to various lifestyles, artistic expressions, and architectural designs that span different corners of the globe and historical epochs.

Their preferences span a remarkable range—from the opulent elegance of Art Deco to the sleek simplicity of minimalist Scandinavian design and onto the cozy, lived-in warmth of earthy aesthetics.
This eclectic mix presents an exciting challenge that I eagerly accepted!

After a series of thoughtful meetings to delve deeper into my clients’ backgrounds and inspirations, I dedicated time to reflect and dissect each style. I sought to distill their essence, unearthing how to weave them together harmoniously. Within the framework of minimalist Scandinavian architecture, I envisioned a seamless fusion with the refined forms and shapes found in Art Deco, all enveloped in a subtly warm and rich colour palette.

The initial design orientation describes an effortless living space that embodies elegance, modern sophistication, and warmth while offering an understated sense of luxury and wonder. This design orientation features a harmonious blend of vibrant colours juxtaposed with neutral tones. Shades of orange, yellow, and blue dance across the space, balanced and framed by charcoal and natural accents.

Incorporating natural materials such as stone, wood, glass, and metal, the interior is enhanced with soft, inviting furniture and fabrics that include leather and some exotic textiles. The streamlined forms integrate both symmetrical and asymmetrical designs accented with geometric patterns and simplified sunburst motifs, reflecting a perfect marriage of elegance and modernity. To create a rich sensory experience, various textures ensure a smooth and inviting tactile feel while embracing a simplified ruggedness on a grander scale, adding depth and dimension to the overall aesthetic.

I am so excited to refine this design vision and dive into the depth of the design working with each design element in each space to co-create with my clients and their team a home that lets their true essence shine through.

Each project teaches me something. Each client expands what I thought was possible. This is the gift of this work — it never stops asking me to grow, to listen, to discover new ways of bringing a space to life.

I'm deeply grateful for that.

With Joy and Delight!
